| ANTIQUUS BIOGRAPHY
Mixing the raw, old-school traditions of their 80's metal influences with fresh, melodic, and more modern elements, Vancouver’s ANTIQUUS is a band that eclipses the power and prog-metal genres, crafting a sound that can only be described with one word: EPIC.
Bassist Scott Unger, vocalist Jesse White, drummer Andrew Bak and guitarists Trevor Leonard and Geoff Way released the first ANTIQUUS album, Ramayana, to much critical acclaim in February, 2005. The album received rave reviews from more than 60 publications, including such prestigious magazines as Canada's Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles, Germany's Heavy Oder Was?, and the American Metal Maniacs. Word spread quickly, and the band started getting radio airplay in Europe, South America, and Australia. By June, word about ANTIQUUS had spread around the world.
Back home in Canada, the members of ANTIQUUS took to the stage, thrilling audiences with renditions of songs from Ramayana, as well as brand new material. ANTIQUUS toured across western Canada, and also performed at home, opening shows for Into Eternity, Sonata Arctica, SoulScar and Infernal Majesty. It was at that time that the band finalized negotiations for a recording contract with Italy's Cruz Del Sur Music.
“Eleutheria” was then recorded at Turtle Studio, engineered by Brad Johnson, and mixed by Larry Anschell (who has worked with Paul Rogers, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains).
Later “Eleutheria” was mastered by Goran Finnberg (In Flames, Soilwork) at Mastering Room, Stockholm, Sweden.
Though many changes have occurred throughout their career, the goal of ANTIQUUS remains the same: to create vast soundscapes and communicate new and challenging ideas through sound and song, without ever compromising artistic integrity for commercial success.

With “Eleutheria” Antiquus offer an audacious release, daring to break the boundaries of nowadays mostly unexciting metal scene. It’s an album that will slowly but constantly grow on the listeners, building and strengthening itself piece by piece, song after song.
It’s an exciting experience for all fans of true heavy metal, Slough Feg, Manilla Road, but also a pleasant discover for those who love the emotions of progressive metal, where the lyrics, the music, the atmospheres are all merged into one musical experience.
