| INFLICTION was formed in 1995 as a five-piece playing a mix of melodic death metal and progressive elements with hints of thrash influences.
During 1996 and 1997 the band released two demo tapes “Heretical” and “The Bleeding Dreams” which helped them to gain a certain reputation inside the Italian Metal scene.
After the addition of Jan on keyboards, the line-up was later established with Dhilorz ( Hilo ) from Ancient on bass and I.R. on vocals.
A promo CD was then recorded and INFLICTION began touring Italy with long-time friends Night In Gales and sharing the stage with the likes of Tiamat , Immortal , Incantation , Vader , Saxon , The Haunted , Labyrinth and many more.
After over 50 shows in three years, the band built a strong fan-base all over Europe and in early 2001 the band entered the Alpha/Omega studio to record their first full-length entitled “ The Faint Smell of Suicide ” which was released in May 2002 by German label V.O.L. The album features guest vocal-performances by members of Ancient , Mork Gryning and Night in Gales .
Soon after I.R. quit the job and his place behind the mike taken by Björn Goosses from Night in Gales .
After a tour across Europe with Hatesphere In 2003 to support the album, the band took a break, starting to write the songs that would be part of their second album “ The Silencer ”, for which release an agreement with CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC was soon reached.
“ The Silencer ” is a strong album of Metal music, a melting pot crafted by experienced musicians grown breathing metal all their lives.
From Thrash to Classic Heavy Metal riffings, passing through Swedish death metal-alike explosions but also introspective and more gothic-oriented tracks. A long journey composed during 2 years of writing, which is enlighten by the cover version of Ultravox 's hit “ The Voice ” closing the album.
A videoclip of the opener “Eyesseeblack” has been shot in May 2005 and it's available as a bonus feature on the cd.
