San Francisco true metal troubadours SLOUGH FEG<\/strong> have rejoined Italy\u2019s Cruz Del Sur Music<\/strong>, the label behind the band\u2019s heralded \u201cAtavism\u201d<\/strong> (2005), \u201cHardworlder\u201d<\/strong> (2007) and \u201cApe Uprising!<\/strong>\u201d (2009) albums.<\/p>\n Comments vocalist\/guitarist Mike Scalzi<\/strong>: \u201cWe are happy to announce that we are back with Cruz Del Sur Music<\/strong> and will begin recording a new album in July! We believe that a smaller \u2018boutique\u2019 label such as Cruz Del Sur<\/strong> is appropriate for our sound, fanbase and work ethic, and look forward to working with Enrico<\/strong> [Lec<\/strong>c<\/strong>ese<\/strong>] and company again.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI am extremely excited to have SLOUGH FEG<\/strong> back on Cruz Del Sur<\/strong>!\u201d says Leccese<\/strong>. \u201cIt is always nice when bands you like track you down. I can\u2019t wait to hear the new album and share it with the metal world.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Continues Scalzi<\/strong>: \u201cThe new album will be called \u2018The New Organon\u2019<\/strong>, and the songs are somewhat of a return to the heavier side of our sound: more rustic, heavy, churning, medieval\/Celtic and proggy sounding riffs, as opposed to the more \u201970s rock sounds of more recent albums. But don\u2019t worry: there will be a couple of rockers as well! We will also have some newer, experimental songwriting styles, mixing heavy rock and metal with the melodic sounds of \u201950s and \u201960s pop. Imagine DEL SHANNON <\/strong>singing for BLUE CHEER<\/strong>! After all, it wouldn\u2019t be a SLOUGH FEG<\/strong> album without some bizarre surprises!<\/p>\n \u201cSo, journey we more into the vaults of the Voi-vaudevillian\u2026the Epic-cure for all Epicurean Angst and Ennui. The Celtic cacophony continues!\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n One of the most inventive and unique bands to emerge from the American metal scene, SLOUGH FEG<\/strong> was originally formed in 1990 in Central Pennsylvania under the name THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG<\/strong>. Later that year, the band relocated to San Francisco, which has remained their home base ever since. After releasing a series of demos and their debut self-titled album in 1996, the band signed to Dragonheart Records<\/strong> for the release of 1999\u2019s Celtic music-infused \u201cTwilight of the Idols\u201d<\/strong>. The sprawling \u201cDown Among the Deadmen\u201d<\/strong> would follow in 2000, setting the stage for their monumental sci-fi epic \u201cTraveller\u201d<\/strong>, which was released in 2003.<\/p>\n In 2005, the band shortened their name to simply SLOUGH FEG<\/strong> and signed to Cruz Del Sur Music<\/strong>. That year\u2019s \u201cAtavism\u201d<\/strong> brought SLOUGH FEG<\/strong> into international prominence, with the metal scene hailing Scalzi<\/strong>\u2019s innate brand of storytelling and the band\u2019s penchant for NWOBHM-like dynamics, as found on songs such as \u201cI Will Kill You \/ You Will Die\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cHiberno-Latin Invasion\u201d <\/strong>and \u201cMan Out of Time\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 2007\u2019s \u201cHardworlder\u201d<\/strong> would follow up \u201cAtavism\u201d<\/strong> in grand fashion, with the band effortlessly blending compact, twin guitar-driven motifs on \u201cThe Return of Dr. Universe\u201d<\/strong> and the title track, while showcasing Scalzi<\/strong>\u2019s gruff, one-of-a-kind vocal delivery on the folk-oriented \u201cThe Sea Wolf\u201d<\/strong>. The heavier and more straightforward \u201cApe Uprising!\u201d<\/strong> would see the light of day in 2009, with the band embracing its pure metal and progressive rock music roots on the doomy \u201cThe Hunchback of Notre Doom\u201d<\/strong> and vibrant \u201cSimian Manifesto\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n SLOUGH FEG<\/strong>\u2019s 2010\u2019s \u201cThe Animal Spirits\u201d<\/strong> saw a joint release by Canada\u2019s Profound Lore Music <\/strong>in North America and Cruz Del Sur <\/strong>in Europe, before moving on to Metal Blade Records<\/strong> for the box-set reissue of the \u201cTwilight of the Idols\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cDown Among the Deadmen\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cTraveller\u201d<\/strong> albums in early 2013.
