\"\"Greek epic\/power metal force\u00a0BATTLEROAR<\/strong>\u00a0is currently putting the finishing touches on their fifth full-length album,\u00a0\u201cCodex Epicus\u201d<\/strong>, which is set for a\u00a0June 15\u00a0release via\u00a0Cruz Del Sur Music<\/strong>. The follow-up to 2014\u2019s\u00a0\u201cBlood Of Legends\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was recorded at Devasoundz Studios<\/strong> in Athens, Greece and will feature a guest appearance from someone very familiar to fans of epic metal:\u00a0MANILLA ROAD\u00a0<\/strong>guitarist\/vocalist\u00a0Mark Shelton<\/strong>. The cover artwork is being created by\u00a0Vagelis Petikas<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Revolver Design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe title symbolizes that in order to create something that will stand the test of time, something epic, you need to fight and struggle for it,\u201d says guitarist\u00a0Kostas Tzortzis<\/strong>. \u201cWe drew our inspiration from the\u00a0\u2018Codex\u2019<\/strong>, a book written by worthy men well before our time. We wanted to portray that after gaining knowledge from the\u00a0\u2018Codex\u2019<\/strong>, you could now create music that is epic and fitting of the book.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCodex Epicus\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0will mark the second\u00a0BATTLEROAR<\/strong>\u00a0album with vocalist\u00a0Gerrit Mutz<\/strong>\u00a0(also of\u00a0SACRED STEEL<\/strong>).\u00a0Mutz<\/strong>, who can also be heard on the band\u2019s 2017 split with long-running U.S. metal bastions\u00a0OMEN<\/strong>, is described by Tzortzis <\/strong>as someone who \u201csings with great passion and strength.\u201d Asked to describe the sound of \u201cCodex Epicus\u201d<\/strong>, the guitarist says BATTLEROAR<\/strong> fans should expect something even more bold and grandiose compared to \u201cBlood Of Legends\u201d<\/strong>, along with some added wrinkles thrown into the mix.<\/p>\n

\u201cMusically speaking, the album has some new elements to present,\u201d says Tzortzis<\/strong>. \u201cBut, overall, it\u2019s definitely melodic, powerful, doomy and most certainly epic! We worked really hard on the songs and tried to come up with some new twists and turns while properly representing the history of BATTLEROAR<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

BATTLEROAR<\/strong> will support \u201cCodex Epicus\u201d<\/strong> with extensive live shows across Europe.<\/p>\n

Originally formed in 2000, BATTLEROAR<\/strong>\u2019s self-titled debut album was released in 2003. The band followed it up with \u201cAge Of Chaos\u201d<\/strong> in 2005 before joining Cruz Del Sur<\/strong> for the release of 2008\u2019s \u201cTo Death And Beyond\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
