The band\u2019s debut\nalbum, \u201cMagick &amp; Mischief\u201d, is due for release in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally formed in 2007 under the name of WITCH\nHAZEL by lead singer Nate Tyson and drummer Nicholas Zinn, WITCH HAZEL had\nthree self-released albums to their credit, \u201cForsaken Remedies\u201d (2012),\n\u201cNocturnity\u201d (2015) and \u201cOtherwordly\u201d (2018). The band, rounded out by\nguitarist Andy Craven and bassist Seibert Lowe, nearly changed their name\nbefore the release of \u201cOtherwordly\u201d, but decided to make the switch to SPELLBOOK\nwhen its current formation started writing the material that would become\n\u201cMagick &amp; Mischief\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEleven years named one thing wasn&#8217;t easy to get past,\nbut we realized to take this to the next step it was necessary,\u201d says Zinn. \u201cWe\nliked the idea of having the song \u2018The SpellBook\u2019 from \u2018Forsaken Remedies\u2019\nbeing the representing name that ties the past, present and future together.\nWe\u2019re very proud of our past, though, and plan to still play some WITCH HAZEL\nsongs live, especially those from \u2018Otherworldly\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPELLBOOK was brought to Cruz Del Sur Music directly\nby the label\u2019s A&amp;R rep and WHILE HEAVEN WEPT main man Tom Phillips who\nreveals how he was \u201ctipped off\u201d about the band: \u201cA good friend of mine Mike\nSmith pulled me aside to suggest I check out this band WITCH HAZEL he recently\nhad included as part of a tour package\u2026 more or less raving about how good they\nwere\u2026and boy, was he right! In an age where we\u2019ve seen a number of\nretro-inspired acts rising in popularity that ultimately come across as stale\nor reeking of gimmicks, WH ticked all the right boxes for even MY jaded ears;\nequal parts BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, B.O.C., ALICE COOPER, and THIN LIZZY &#8211;\nsongs so well-crafted and capably performed that I immediately reached out to\nEnrico saying \u201cWe NEED to sign this band immediately!\u201d &#8211; because \u201cMagick &amp; Mischief\u201d\ntotally blows away the already awesome \u201cOtherwordly\u201d in every possible way!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zinn describes \u201cMagick &amp; Mischief\u201d as the band\u2019s\n\u201cmost dynamic offering yet.\u201d From proto-metal jaunts such as \u201cWands To The Sky\u201d\nand \u201cOminous Skies\u201d, to the epic doom rocker \u201cNot Long For This World\u201d and\nalready-crowd favorite \u201cAmulet\u201d, it\u2019s easy to see why SPELLBOOK is eager to hit\nthe road in support of the album. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re a unique band and we&#8217;re proud of that,\u201d closes Zinn. \u201cThere is no formula; there are no rules. We write what feels good and we are tapped into a creative high right now, already writing for the next album. However, the release of \u2018Magick &amp; Mischief\u2019 in September is priority number one and we&#8217;re excited for everyone to hear it. It&#8217;s rewarding this label is taking us on and recognizes the potential.
